SobelCo began as a builder of custom homes. In 1970, our primary emphasis was changed to the development of office buildings with a strong focus in medical facilities. In the late 1980s we moved into the construction of retail space — developing more than two million square feet of retail and office space. In the mid-1990s, we began development of manufactured home parks for active adults 55 years and older and completing thousands of homes. In the early 2000s, we added Florida land development and sales.

Mr. Sobel was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and has been a resident of Boca Raton, Florida since 1995. Mr. Sobel has been in the real estate business for over 45 years and has been adaptive to changing markets. Mr. Sobel has developed over 2,000 single-family residences. He has developed, built, owned, financed and managed over four million square feet of grocery-anchored and big-box retail centers, medical and general office buildings along with numerous residential land developments and recreational and resort communities throughout southeastern Michigan, Delaware, New Jersey, South Carolina and Florida. Mr. Sobel is highly regarded in the real estate community and has developed and financed developments valued in excess of one billion dollars.
Mr. Sobel earned a degree in Business Administration from the University of Michigan, and has been involved in the development, construction, leasing and management of real estate for over 30 years. Unique in the real estate community, he has earned expertise in several areas: residential (single and multi-family), medical office, retail/shopping centers, mobile home parks and land development. A thorough attention to strategic planning and detailed execution have created exceptional returns.
As VP of Residential Development, Tirso San Jose is responsible for the procurement of new land opportunities - from raw land through entitlements, land planning, design and development. Using an in-depth knowledge of Florida’s various markets and their demographics, Mr. San Jose oversees product development, sales, marketing and everyday operations on all SobelCo communities in the state. With over thirty years of experience in residential and mixed-use development, San Jose has managed the development of over 7,000 homes with budgets exceeding $1.4 Billion. Before entering the private sector, Tirso spent four years overseas where he positioned and operated the Pulte Homes International Division in Puerto Rico.
